Upgrade from v2.3.2 to v2.4.0

This guide will assist in upgrading your AltTester® Unity SDK project from v2.3.2 to v2.4.0.

AltTester® Desktop

AltTester® Unity SDK v2.4.0 works only with AltTester® Desktop v2.4.0 or later. Update AltTester® Desktop before you run apps instrumented with v2.4.0. With an older AltTester® Desktop, the app shows Connection to AltTester® Server timed out. and can’t connect.

Unity package

Importing a .unitypackage doesn’t delete the files that the newer version no longer contains. v2.4.0 reorganizes the AltTester® assemblies, so importing it over v2.3.2 leaves the old assemblies next to the new ones and Unity reports duplicate assembly errors.

To upgrade:

  1. Delete the Assets/AltTester folder.

  2. Import the v2.4.0 package.

Your AltTester® Editor settings are kept, because they are stored in Assets/Plugins/AltTester. Scenes that contain the AltTester® prefab get it back once the package is imported.

Upgrading from v2.4.0 to later versions doesn’t require deleting the folder.

This doesn’t apply if you installed the SDK from OpenUPM, since Unity’s Package Manager replaces the whole package.

TextMeshPro

The TMP_PRESENT scripting define symbol is no longer needed: AltTester® detects TextMeshPro at runtime. You can remove it from Player Settings > Scripting Define Symbols and from any custom build method that sets it.
