Upgrade from v1.2.x to v1.3.0
This guide will assist in upgrading your AltTester® Unreal SDK project from v1.2.x to v1.3.0.
AltTester® Desktop
AltTester® Unreal SDK 1.3.0 doesn’t work with earlier versions of AltTester® Desktop / Server. The app can’t connect to them, and the popup shows Connection to AltTester® Server timed out.
Update AltTester® Desktop (or the standalone AltTester® Server) to v2.4.0 or newer.
Object names
Object names are now stable: they no longer change each time a level is loaded, and they are the same in the editor and in packaged builds. Because of this, some objects have different names than in v1.2.x, and existing tests that use the old names may fail:
Widgets and actors created at runtime no longer have a generated
_C_<number>suffix. They are named after their Blueprint asset, for exampleW_LyraFrontEnd_C_2147482647is nowW_LyraFrontEndandBP_Bullet_C_12is nowBP_Bullet. When several objects have the same name, use an index in the path to choose one, for example//BP_Bullet[0].Actors placed in a level use the label you gave them in the editor (the name shown in the Outliner). For example, an actor named
StaticMeshActor_3with the labelLabeledCapsuleis now found asLabeledCapsule.Objects spawned by a Level Sequence use the name of their binding in the sequence, for example
CineCameraActor_A.
To update your tests, find the new names in the Objects Hierarchy of AltTester® Desktop and update your selectors (By.NAME, By.PATH), or record the steps again with the AltTester® Desktop Recorder.
To make your tests independent of names, you can also use AltId for actors.
