Introducing AltTester® Unity SDK v2.3.1 & AltTester® Unreal SDK v1.2.1

We’re excited to share the latest updates to the AltTester® SDKs! This release brings improvements and new features to both the Unity and Unreal SDKs, making your mobile and web testing workflows smoother.

Unity & Unreal SDKs: Native pop-up support for Appium+AltTester® and Selenium+AltTester®

A capability useful for teams using AltTester® alongside Appium or Selenium is now available in both our SDKs: native pop-up support on Android, iOS, and WebGL.

Until now, users combining Appium with AltTester® (for mobile) or Selenium with AltTester® (for WebGL) had to handle connection prompts in a custom way depending on the platform. Starting with this release, both the AltTester® Unity SDK v2.3.1 and the AltTester® Unreal SDK v1.2.1 include a native pop-up that appears automatically on the device or browser, making it significantly easier to establish and confirm the AltTester® connection when running tests through Appium or Selenium.

This change improves the experience for hybrid automation setups and reduces the amount of boilerplate configuration required from testers.

Unity SDK: Keep AltTester® in scene when added manually

A community-driven improvement lands in this release: when AltTester® is added manually to a scene, it will now persist in that scene rather than being removed or reset. This was a direct request from one of our users, and we’re happy to ship it. It gives developers more control over how and where AltTester® is initialized in their Unity projects, particularly in setups that don’t rely on automatic bootstrapping.

Unity SDK: bug fixes & optimizations

This release also includes several bug fixes and optimizations for the Unity SDK:

  • Green pop-up performance improvements: We’ve optimized the rendering and behavior of the green AltTester® connection pop-up for a smoother experience.
  • Improved object search by text: Object lookup by text content has been optimized for better accuracy and speed.
  • Tap command now works with UI Toolkit: The Tap command is now fully functional for Unity’s UI Toolkit, resolving a long-standing gap in UI element interaction support.
  • Fixed notification command issues: Several issues affecting notification-related commands have been resolved.
  • Fixed WebSocket error in UnityEditor: A WebSocket error that occurred when launching applications directly inside the Unity Editor has been fixed.
  • Fixed BrowserStack connectivity issue on iOS 16+ devices: A connection problem affecting iOS 16 and above devices when running tests via BrowserStack has been resolved.
